I started this blog so my daughters could find all of our family favourite recipes in one place. It has actually grown into more than just the family favourites but also other recipes we've tried out in our kitchen. I don't like to fill up the post with alot of chatter. Sometimes there's a little story to tell, but usually I like to get right to the point. So this is for them, but hope you find some recipes that you like as well. I'll be sharing a lot of recipes, and along the way you'll find some crafty things and maybe some helpful hints too! Welcome!

Peppermint Bark Krispies

Festive twist to the good old Rice Krispie squares.

1/4 cup butter
5 cups marshmallows
2 tsps peppermint extract
6 cups rice krispies
8 oz white chocolate, chopped
2 tbsps crushed candy canes

Melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat, add marshmallows and cook, stirring for 8-10 minutes until melted. Once melted stir in the peppermint extract. Remove from heat and immediately stir in the rice krispie cereal.

Using wet hands press mixture into a parchment lined 15 X 10" baking sheet.

In a double boiler heat white chocolate stirring occasionally until melted, about 5 minutes. Then spread over top of krispies.

Sprinkle with crushed candy canes and let stand 10 to 15 minutes or until chocolate is set.

Once cooled lift parchment out of pan onto counter. Trim off ragged edges for nice neat squares. (Keep the scraps for testers!)

Store in airtight container.
