I started this blog so my daughters could find all of our family favourite recipes in one place. It has actually grown into more than just the family favourites but also other recipes we've tried out in our kitchen. I don't like to fill up the post with alot of chatter. Sometimes there's a little story to tell, but usually I like to get right to the point. So this is for them, but hope you find some recipes that you like as well. I'll be sharing a lot of recipes, and along the way you'll find some crafty things and maybe some helpful hints too!

Rice Heating and Cooling Bag

When this rice bag is heated up and wrapped around you, it feels like a nice warm hug!

I started with 2 pieces of material 8" X 40"
I sewed 3 sides together inside out leaving one short side opened. Then turned it right side out.

Next fold a hem inside on that opened end and leave enough room to get a large funnel inside.

Measure off 6 even sections and mark with pins.

You will need 9 cups of rice ( 1 1/2 cups per section)
I made 6 rice bags so I bought this huge bag of rice.

I found using a canning funnel worked well to fill the sections with rice. You can mix a couple drops of essential oil, like lavender, in with the rice.

Put 1  1/2 cups of rice in, then make sure it's out of the way and sew up that section. Continue until all the sections are filled.

It folds very neatly for storing or for gifting.

To use:

Heat on high in microwave for 1-2 minutes
Or in a baking dish in a 300F oven for 10-15 minutes

Or keep it in the freezer to use as a cold pack.
