I started this blog so my daughters could find all of our family favourite recipes in one place. It has actually grown into more than just the family favourites but also other recipes we've tried out in our kitchen. I don't like to fill up the post with alot of chatter. Sometimes there's a little story to tell, but usually I like to get right to the point. So this is for them, but hope you find some recipes that you like as well. I'll be sharing a lot of recipes, and along the way you'll find some crafty things and maybe some helpful hints too! Welcome!

Easy and Decadent Apple Walnut Bars

Yep, totally stole the idea for my apple picture from Apple Records. Couldn't resist.
Ok on with the recipe.

1 spice cake mix
1/2 cup margarine or butter
1 egg

2 Granny Smith apples
2 tbsps sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp allspice

2/3 cup walnuts
1/4 cup coconut
300 ml can sweetened condensed milk

Mix together the cake mix, egg and margarine.  It will be cookie dough consistency.
Line a 13 X 9 inch pan with parchment paper and spray that with cooking oil.  Press the dough into the pan.  I started off using this spreader
but found just using your fingers works better.
Once that's done, chop the apples and mix with the sugar, cinnamon and allspice.  Layer that on top of the dough.
Mix together the walnuts and coconut and that will be your third layer.
Finally drizzle the condensed milk over everything.  O.M.G.
Bake at 350 F for 30-35 minutes.
They cut very well and are great as a handheld snack.
But why not go all in with vanilla frozen yogurt and caramel syrup.  You know you want to!
