I started this blog so my daughters could find all of our family favourite recipes in one place. It has actually grown into more than just the family favourites but also other recipes we've tried out in our kitchen. I don't like to fill up the post with alot of chatter. Sometimes there's a little story to tell, but usually I like to get right to the point. So this is for them, but hope you find some recipes that you like as well. I'll be sharing a lot of recipes, and along the way you'll find some crafty things and maybe some helpful hints too! Welcome!

Sweet Pepper Steak

You can make this recipe with any cut steak you like.  Leave it whole or cut in strips.  I used 5 pieces of round steak here.

5 round steaks
olive oil
Montreal steak spice
1 medium onion, sliced
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 - 2 sweet peppers, sliced
2 celery stalks, sliced
2 tbsps tomato paste
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp beef bouillon concentrate (Bovril)
1 cup water (or 1 cup beef broth and eliminate Bovril)

Heat a couple of tbsps olive oil in a large frying pan.  Add steak sprinkled with a generous amount of steak spice. Brown lightly and remove from pan.

Add another tbsp of olive oil to the pan and toss in the garlic and onion.  Cook 2 minutes.  Add the rest of the vegetables and cook a couple of minutes more.

Stir in the remaining ingredients, add the meat, nestling it down into the sauce.

Cover and simmer 5-10 minutes.  Best served with rice.
